Way back in time, in the murky world before history, we find a group of early humans preparing for the coming winter. It’s late autumn, the air has a chill to it as winter is fast approaching. There is an urgency to their work, as the cold of the long winters requires that they store enough food away to see them through until the spring. Bitter years of experience has taught them that this is a necessity and they have learnt the hard way how much food they need. The group works as a team, very industriously, to bring together the necessary supplies; collecting, sorting and packing the food to enable their survival through the harsh winter months.
To make sure they have calculated correctly the stores required for the long winter ahead, they have used a recently killed wolf bone. In the animals jaw bone they have carved marks for each item, and group of supplies. This enables them to make sure they have the right amount of each food type and enough firewood to ensure they can make it through until the spring.......
